During the 1950's I travelled daily to school in Cardiff in a double decker that had 2 staircases- one as normal at the back and the other next to the driver ( starting in what is often just an empty space) and arriving at the front upstairs. I remember it well as we used to try to avoid the conductor by running up one set of stairs and down the other to avoid the fare!
However my husband does not believe such a bus existed. Can anyone confirm my memories / know what bus I mean? The Cardiff ones were a darker red than the London busses I also remember!
