This interesting little bus is a Dennis Mace, with Eastern Counties bodywork and was delivered to Southern National in 1934. Seen at Longcross on 1st April 2007.
I recall that one of these delightful buses was sent to Yeovil garage and outstationed to Bower Hinton about 20 miles distant and was diagrammed to complete three return trips daily not sunday. During the war years travel to outlying villages became increasingly difficult and I can recall his wonderful little vehicle manfully carrying up to 70 souls to their homes in the early evening with only the driver, known to all as 'Smiler' made sure no one was left behind - wonderful service
