Accrington Atlantean 190 (Rear View)
Hyndburn Borough Transport (the succesor to Accrington Corporation) no. 190 (reg no. UWN 737W) parked in a bleak part of Accrington in 1986. After World War 1 Accrington's buses were painted in the regimental colours of the Accrington Pals, a battlion virtually wiped out at the Somme, as a mark of respect. When Stagecoach took over the local buses they decided not to continue the practice.
What a great pity Stagecoach could not have retained these colours - M&H
